This Land of Dreams

This Land of Dreams

I must have a fair go, and lest I be accused of not giving a fair go to all, and just in case my political bias is too obscured by my humanity, my belief in democracy, equity and equality and of course, my rabid Republicanism .. I must give a fairer go to the King and his Dragoons and to the Greening of Australia, and I must expose, therefore, these others who would rule on our behalf this lucky country of ours … This proud and inclusive Australia – this land of dreams.

So, why should those who care take some time out of a precious day and vote for .. say, Billy Boys Bunch?

Well, why indeed? Regardless of the system they do still manage to keep their values somewhat consistant, and despite the past decade of internal assassination, by which Australia managed to loose our best chance at a truly wise, inclusive and morally forward thinking future in the murder of Ms Julia Gillard, they have have signed up to the Fitzgerald Principles. This in itself is a positive for a return to a ‘sort of Democracy’ and to real Australian values. Many Aussies can find no forgiveness for Billy Boy’s part in the temporary insanity of the game of Popularism .. in his fog of war. But, the Australian Labor Party does have a constitution that its members adhere to and that embraces humanitarian inclusiveness and a Democratic wish for a better future for Australia – party politically speaking, that is.

And as has been shown in this new millenium, we do not vote for the captain, we vote for the crew. This is the form of demockracy that liberalism has allowed us. It is the form of demockracy that is enshrined in our Ancient Royalist Constitution – in the interst of the curtailment of democracy – and as such, our children may be forgiven for believing that it is for the best and for all time. But it does not need to be.

Billy Boy & his crew – and he does have a fine crew – who were once the party of the people who pay the bills, don’t believe in the Divine Right. They don’t believe in the rule by Fear of Law – except of course, in the case of the Corporative leaders – and though they too can be as suseptible to the corruption of power as the Kings Mob, they have a closer relationship to the people of Australia and they have a better understanding of the inequity inherent in Australia’s British Constitution. They, and the people of Australia, have run foul of it in previous times … And that is the Truth of the Matter.

Australia has a better chance of getting a Bill of Rights under Billy Boy’s crew and we have a better chance of keeping them accountable – and these two things in themselves will help to enable real Democracy.

What about the fearmongering of an ‘economic downturn’? Well, its coming anyway but at least Billy Boy will spend our money on the things we need. Spend our money on us and a real tangible future .. and not hoard it for some make-believe and impossible future in heaven, like the King says it is his right to.

And Pistol Pete’s promised terrorism? That’s only coming because Pistol Pete promises it.

“Faith is a great way of refuting proof – because when one is confronted with scientific, irrefutable proof and one does not like it, then Faith is the final and opposite answer.”
