A Myopia for A Future.

A Myopia for A Future.

I would’ve though it would be ok to be any colour at all .. and that it would be ok not to be ashamed of it …

This representative of a community in this once proud, free and inclusive country of ours appears not to believe that that is the case. I suppose she at least stands up for her right to express her opinions. Does that right not extend to all of us?

Senator Hanson-Young said the person responsible for the signs stuck to garbage bins in Adelaide should be ashamed of themselves. Did they cover some corporate advertising she is supportive of?

β€œIt is good to see many of these signs have been ripped down by decent people who will not stand for this divisive language being used in our streets,” Ms Hanson-Young said. And here in Sydney we let the Corporatives advertise on our Opera House .. we should be ashamed.

β€œI have referred this vile racism to the police,” she said. Gawd, let’s hope they have something better to do .. perhaps fine the soul who tore them down for littering?

My Lord, how is it that we have got to the point where some young girl can construe a white supremist Nazi slogan out of ‘Its ok to be white’ written on a piece of paper in black ink? Where has her head been buried all these years? Her political correctness, her belief that it’s ok to censor anything that she finds offensive makes her as bad as Pauline … Where is the difference? Bigotry is a two edged sword, and our neoliberal society is becoming as intolerant as the Germany of Nazism, the South Africa of Apartheid, the USA of Trump and for that matter, the Israel of today – to name just a few righteous societies.

Might is not right. No matter who wields the sword. It’s far better to face up to the fact that this world is made up of different people with different ideals. Dialogue is what’s needed not draconian censorship and peer group punishments. We want to build tolerance not make war.

There is no historical precedent that shows that the censorship of ideas, the curtailment of free speech and the suppression of free conscience brings peace and prosperity to this world. It does just the opposite. It brings darkness where there should be light.

This political correctness is not progress, it’s everything but. It’s a nasty shadow with a belief that persecution and petty interest compulsion will change the mind and soul of man. Man’s soul cannot be forced by fear .. only through education – free and open and inclusive education – and kindness and toleration.

“The heart has reasons that reason does not know at all.” – Blaise Pascal
