The Secrecy of Lies, Or, Environmentalists Dissembling Under the Bed.
They see enemies everywhere … Which is not surprising when you are so small a minority attempting to coerce as many others as possible into your view of the world. They see not only their enemies but they see our enemies too. Those enemies hidden beneath every bed, those enemies of ours that have been lifelong friends. Trust no one – but trust us!
This is the slippery slope they build. The slope so steep and slippery that it must be covered in secrecy. Of course its quite hard to avoid these dangerous slopes when they’re hidden from view – almost makes a mockery of the premise that they’re here to protect us from things we do not know for our own good and in, of course, our best interests.
Much like Australia’s stance at the recent climate summit in Madrid. Our government says that they must throw the spanner into the works because thats the only way they can protect us and our future, our children, from something so secret that that we should not doubt that it is for our own good. Integrity. Our government would not have to cover us in secrecy if, indeed, it was not so good for us. Its just a bit of a shame that we have to take everyone else with us.
One would have thought, after all these centuries of progress, we would have found a way to save our children without the need to sacrifice other peoples small children too. Neoliberalism’s ideological take on the survival of the fittest …
We do need to remember that His Disgrace the King does not want to frighten the children, wants them to be children for as long as possible – perhaps even swaddled for eternity in the wings of his miraculous gods. This begs the question though, just in case they do grow up, at what point in time does the King say that us parents may stop taking the blame, and the punishment divied out, for the actions of our children?
Many of the King’s Merry Men advocate that our children can be considered and charged and held and tortured as criminals from the age of 10! One would have to suppose then, that 10 is when us elders can wipe our hands of the little bastards; one may also suppose that perhaps we should give them the vote at 10 – perhaps that’s what they’re rebelling about? Though methinks the King has in mind that our kids stay safely at home til they’re at least 21 … Which again sends us fishing away in the machinery for that spanner of responsibility and dare I say, leaves us open, again, to the punishments our children bring down upon us up to that age of 21! Well, I suppose that that’s just payback for none of us having the choice but to suffer for ‘the sins of our fathers’ – ad infinitum.
“Nature is non other than God in things. God is everywhere in all things, not above, not outside, but present, not a being not outside or above being, not a nature outside of nature, not a goodness outside of good.” – Giordano Bruno.
