The Means by Which We Suffer

The Means by Which We Suffer

They’re moving in on the old liberals within the neoLibs New Party. It’s an old trick .. butter em up and give em un-winnable positions within the Party Hierarchy or a sinicure. It’s been said that, “the first person that mentions Hitler loses the argument”. Old fashioned cover up thinking .. (and I’m trying to win an argument).

While its probable that the neoLibs New Guard don’t exactly worship the man, their political machinations pay homage to his methods. Time to stop the cover up of Fascism by saying that Fascism was Hitlerism and that these things can’t happen anymore. The rulers of Western World embraced the ideals of Fascism while at the same time excoriating Hitler after WWII. Just because we’ve lost, apparently, the bogy man in Stalin (which the same neo-liberal ideology want the kids to think is Socialism) so we need to realise that Fascism is not a dirty word in the inner clique of the neoLibs party room. There are less and less people alive who remember the great battles against Fascism fought before WWII, and books about that great clash of ideologies are now mostly stored away in the deep vaults of unused libraries, alas.

If the New Guard had waited another 5 or 10 years they probably could have rolled out all the old terminology in triumph, and without the millennial generations having a clue .. along with the uniforms and oaths of allegiance. But, as I’ve said before, Fascism is impatient. It’s an ideology of the present and only for the present. It’s greedy for immediate power, it’s greedy for gold. Fascism cares nothing about the future .. as much as they use the future as an excuse for their draconian actions.

So now, apart from Pistol Pete’s ranting and raving about security, the King’s ranting and raving and Christ Porter’s willingness to bend and corrupt the Constitution to suit Corporative Divine Right, we see the machinations of the New Guard Liberals shunting aside those elders still devotedly attached to the so called liberal ideals of Lord Bob and Little Johnny. The haven’t resorted to a night of long knives – yet.

This fearmongering about terrorism and the suppression of free speech has been in the past a precursor to something like the suspension of Democracy, the delaying of elections and curtailment of free movement – Pass Laws – for our own good, for the benefit of our children’s future. The Pass Laws are already being slide in under our complacency – in fact we all but have them – and free speech and conscience are under constant attack, not only through debatable organisations like Pistol Pete’s Bureau of State Security but through the so called Humanitarian Ministries misnamed Human Affairs, Social Security & Immigration. It’s a slippery slope, as they quote so often, that they won’t stand for when its about things that the common folk, us Aussies, care greatly about – Euthanasia/Assisted Death, Same Sex Marriage, homelessness, government accountability etc – the small things that truly lead to a better future .. for all. A ‘rule by fear’, of law, they say, is the only way the neoLibs seem able to contemplate a future. And the process? The process is the process of Ministerial Discretion.

So, when our Constitutional Law referee Christ Porter starts saying things like, “It seems to me that it can be done far quicker than it is being at present,” combined with the Kings ranting and raving and his minister for state security’s thinly veiled ‘warnings’ to us about the dangers of free speech and thought – labelling any such democratic processes as fundamentally un-Australian – we should sit up and start digging about in those great old libraries for the history of mans stupidity and the destruction rought in the name of self serving complacency.

Maybe I have lost the argument by bringing up Hitler but only because Hitler didn’t invent Fascism and Fascism didn’t die with Hitler.

‘It is an evil and udultorous generation that SEEKS a sign; no sign shall be given’ (Matt 12:38)
